Joan Vassos made Bachelor history by becoming the first Golden Bachelorette, so her engagement ring had to be something truly memorable. During the season finale of The Golden Bachelorette on November 13, Joan, 61, accepted a proposal from Chock Chapple, who surprised her with a custom Neil Lane Couture diamond ring.
The ring itself is an impressive creation featuring an emerald-cut diamond set in platinum. It is complemented by two tapered diamond baguettes and 56 round brilliant cut diamonds, meticulously arranged in Neil Lane’s signature style.
Weighing in at a total of 4 carats, this elegant piece also includes Lane’s iconic designer hallmark, a touch that’s long been associated with the jeweler’s special creations for the Bachelor franchise. Lane shared that he wanted the ring to celebrate Joan and Chock’s relationship, envisioning a design that captured Joan’s sophisticated and graceful nature.
Lane, who met Joan prior to her Golden Bachelorette debut, was particularly inspired by her “sophistication” and “integrity,” qualities she demonstrated when she exited The Golden Bachelor early due to a family matter. (Joan later explained her departure on The Women Tell-All special in 2023, disclosing that her daughter was struggling with postpartum depression.)
Lane sought a timeless look for Joan’s ring, opting for a classic, understated design rather than overwhelming it with diamonds, even though this ring is one of the larger ones he’s crafted. He drew inspiration from the 1920s Art Deco style, aiming to present the diamonds in an elegantly balanced way.
According to Lane, Chock was captured by the ring’s design and felt it perfectly represented Joan. “He knew right away,” Lane said, describing it as a moment of destiny, as if the ring’s “vibrations and energy” resonated with Chock’s feelings for Joan.
Lane extended his best wishes to the couple, expressing his happiness for them as they start their future together. “This ring’s stunning beauty reflects Joan’s journey as the first Golden Bachelorette,” he remarked, wishing Joan and Chock well as they continue their “magical” story. For Lane, this union between Joan, Chock, and the remarkable ring represents a true “trifecta of love.”
