T.J. Miller Reconciles with Ryan Reynolds: Calls Him a ‘Good Friend’ After Two Years

Despite past tensions, Miller reveals he and Reynolds recently spoke and cleared the air

T.J. Miller has recently shifted his stance regarding his relationship with Ryan Reynolds, now describing his Deadpool co-star as a “good friend” despite previously stating that their collaborations had ended. During a recent appearance on SiriusXM’s The Bonfire, the 43-year-old actor mentioned that he and Reynolds, 48, had spoken not long ago. He said, “We talked a little while ago.”

Regarding a potential return to his role as the bartender Weasel in future Deadpool films, Miller expressed, “I think he’s just been such a good friend right now that I think it would be really—I think that would be awesome.”

Miller, who did not participate in this summer’s Deadpool 3 alongside Reynolds and Hugh Jackman, had faced several personal and professional challenges. These included a 2016 arrest for allegedly assaulting an Uber driver, a se*xual assault allegation made against him in 2017, and a 2018 incident in which he was arrested for allegedly faking a bomb threat aboard an Amtrak train, with the charges later being dismissed.

After Deadpool 2 in 2018, Miller’s comments about his professional relationship with Reynolds became conflicting. In 2022, he recounted a “weird moment” on set where Reynolds, in character as Deadpool, was “horrifically mean” to him. At that time, he declared, “Would I work with him again? No. I would not work with him again.” He added that he found it strange that Reynolds seemed to dislike him.

However, Miller soon clarified his comments. In a later interview on SiriusXM’s Jim Norton & Sam Roberts Show, he explained that the media had misinterpreted his words. “It was just me telling a story from on set that I thought was weird,” he said, revealing that Reynolds had emailed him the next day, and after a back-and-forth, they had resolved the misunderstanding.

Miller also recently reconsidered his previous reservations about working with director Michael Bay. Reflecting on his experience in Transformers: Age of Extinction (2014), Miller admitted, “I was not sure that I would work with him again.” Yet, he now feels comfortable enough with Bay to say, “I would do almost anything that he wanted to do.”
