Hugh Grant’s transition from a well-known bachelor to a happily married man came in 2018 when he wed Swedish producer Anna Eberstein. The couple, who had been in a long-term relationship, tied the knot in a private ceremony at the Chelsea Register Office in London. Following their marriage, Grant expressed his regret for not having done it sooner, describing his wife as a great blessing.
In an interview with Today, Grant shared his happiness, admitting, “It’s really nice, I can’t pretend it isn’t,” and acknowledging that he should have married earlier. He also refuted rumors suggesting he married Eberstein for “passport reasons,” taking to social media to clarify that his love for her was the true reason behind their union.
Grant and Eberstein’s relationship began in 2012, the same year they welcomed their first child, John Mungo. They later expanded their family with two more children, daughter Lulu Danger in 2015 and a third daughter, Blue, in 2018.
Anna Eberstein, who hails from Sweden, has built a successful career as a television producer. Before working independently as a freelance producer, she held a position as a promotions producer for ESPN, where she was responsible for creating video content for marketing and on-air promos.
The couple’s shared interests include attending the French Open, where they were spotted together in 2023. Eberstein was stylish in a blue and white sweater dress, while Grant opted for a blazer, slacks, and a white fedora.
Grant also revealed that he and Eberstein had a “drunken” movie night in 2022, watching his 2003 film Love Actually. Eberstein, who had a unique perspective on the film, pointed out that it focused as much on heartbreak as it did on love. Grant agreed with her observation, remarking on the film’s emotional depth.
In addition to her career in television, Eberstein co-founded a children’s sock company called Ace & Me in 2014, alongside her cousin Pia Tamm Hagno. The couple has three children together, though Grant only publicly shared the names of his daughters in a 2024 interview.
Reflecting on fatherhood, Grant once shared with People that becoming a father was the most rewarding experience of his life, describing it as “lovely” to have unconditional love from his children. In 2020, while filming The Undoing in New York City, he spoke about missing his children during his time away from them.
Grant has other children from his past relationship with Tinglan Hong, including daughter Tabitha Xaio Xi and son Felix Chang. Eberstein and Grant frequently attend high-profile events, including a banquet at the Palace of Versailles in 2023, where they were seen alongside King Charles and Queen Camilla. Eberstein impressed in a black gown adorned with pearls, while Grant looked sharp in a black tuxedo.
Throughout his celebrated Hollywood career, Eberstein has been a constant source of support for her husband. She has witnessed his continued success, including his award nominations for roles in The Undoing and A Very English Scandal. In December 2023, Eberstein joined Grant on the red carpet at the premiere of his film Wonka, where he portrayed a distinctive orange Oompa Loompa.
