Molly-Mae Hague is sharing new details about the events leading up to her unexpected breakup with Tommy Fury this past summer. In an interview with British Vogue, the 25-year-old Love Island UK alum revealed that the split, which she announced on Instagram Stories in August, was a “bit of a shock” and that the “circumstances” surrounding it were particularly difficult.
At the time, they had even selected a wedding date, and planning was well underway. “I wanted to get married next September, and it’s very hard when it’s kind of taken away,” she shared. Although Hague emphasized that she will always hold a deep love and respect for the 25-year-old boxer, she admitted that the situation was “really sad” and “deep.”
She added that the specifics of the breakup would remain private, noting that only she and Fury truly understand what happened. “No one will ever really know what went down apart from Tommy and I, and that’s how we’d like to keep it, for Bambi’s sake,” Hague said, referencing the couple’s young daughter, Bambi.
Despite the personal nature of the split, Hague suggested that Fury may eventually open up about it. “I do think that when he’s ready, like, maybe more will be said. But I think that’s for him to do on his terms,” she said, clarifying that the situation isn’t about gossip, but about real-life matters.
At present, their focus is on co-parenting, and Hague said both are handling the situation with maturity. Fury also spoke publicly about the breakup, emphasizing that their daughter is their top priority. During a recent appearance on This Morning, he explained that the details of their split would remain private, out of respect for their relationship.
“Everyone will point the finger when there’s a bandwagon to jump on, but out of respect to Molly and out of respect to myself, and to us, I’m gonna let us deal with that in private as much as we can,” he said.
A representative for Fury also told PEOPLE that the boxer was “horrified by the false allegations of cheating being circulated by the media” and was “consulting his lawyers” about the matter.
