Sabrina Carpenter had so much fun with SNL’s recent parody of her song “Espresso” that she invited one of its stars to join her on stage during her latest concert.
Marcello Hernández, who played Domingo in the skit featuring Ariana Grande from October, made an unexpected appearance at Carpenter’s Short n’ Sweet Tour show in Los Angeles on Nov. 17.
Excited fans could be heard reacting loudly in footage shared by Variety on X as they recognized Hernández. Carpenter, looking flustered, asked him, “Where are you from?”
He responded with a playful, “I’m from Miami, baby,” prompting cheers from the crowd. Carpenter, still laughing, replied, “Miami? I wish you were from… my bedroom. What are you doing there tonight?”
Hernández, in character as Domingo, then altered some of Carpenter’s lyrics, singing, “I’m the cute boy with the blue jacket and the thick accent.” Carpenter playfully responded, “Well! You sure are gorgeous, I’m getting so flustered and overwhelmed. Is there anything you want to say before I arrest you, Domingo?”
Hernández sang once more, referencing the SNL skit with his own lyrics to the tune of “Espresso”: “Came all this way, had to explain, direct from Domingo. Sabrina’s a friend, she’s like my sis, but I would hook up, though.” The audience eagerly joined in with the chorus.
Later, Carpenter pulled out a pair of fluffy pink handcuffs and pretended to “arrest” Domingo, as seen in fan-captured footage. This lighthearted moment is a reference to an SNL skit featuring Ariana Grande as a bride at her bachelorette party, where the bridesmaids sang about an affair involving a man named Domingo.
The skit went viral, and Carpenter even reacted to it on Instagram Stories afterward. The parody was so beloved that SNL brought it back for a sequel this past weekend, reworking it to reference Chappell Roan’s “HOT TO GO!” with Charli XCX. Fans are already eagerly awaiting part 3.
