Angelina Jolie’s children occasionally make appearances on the red carpet, but many prefer to stay out of the public eye. Her 16-year-old son Knox, who is usually more reserved, made a rare exception on Sunday night by joining his mother at the 2024 Governors Awards in Los Angeles.
Knox looked sharp in a tuxedo and bowtie, standing nearly as tall as Jolie, who was likely in heels. Jolie dazzled in a striking gold and yellow gown paired with an ornate choker and drop earrings. The duo appeared to enjoy their time together at the high-profile event.
This marked Knox’s first red carpet outing since attending a U.K. screening of Eternals back in October 2021. In recent months, several of Jolie’s children with ex-husband Brad Pitt have drawn attention for decisions to distance themselves from their father’s last name. Zahara, 19, introduced herself as “Zahara Marley Jolie” during a Spelman College sorority ceremony.
Earlier this year, Shiloh, 18, filed to legally remove “Pitt” from her name. Meanwhile, Knox’s twin sister Vivienne was credited as “Vivienne Jolie” in a playbill for a Broadway production she co-produced with her mother, where she also made a few red-carpet appearances.
Jolie and Pitt’s two oldest children, Maddox, 23, and Pax, 20, also remain part of their blended family, although reports suggest Pitt has “virtually no contact” with his adult kids following the couple’s 2016 divorce.
Speaking to E! News at the premiere of her movie Maria, Jolie explained why her children rarely attend public events or seem inclined toward Hollywood careers. “They’re very private and shy,” she shared. “They value their privacy deeply.”
