Big Ed Brown has decided to step away from dating for the time being. During an interview at the Nov. 18 American Reality TV Awards, the 59-year-old 90 Day Fiancé star discussed his past relationships, including his brief engagement to Porscha Raemond. In September, Ed proposed to Porscha after just 24 hours of knowing her, but they ended the engagement less than a week later.
He shared with E! News, “I wear my heart on my sleeve, and I’m very spontaneous, just like I am on the show.” He went on to explain that his behavior on reality TV mirrors his real life, with the only difference being the cameras. “The only difference is, with TLC, the cameras are in front of you. So I’m that way on-camera and off-camera.”
Elaborating on his feelings toward Raemond, Ed explained, “I felt a connection with the girl. Unfortunately, the media went after her and it scared her away.” Previously engaged to Liz Woods (15 times) and Rose Vega, Ed reflected that he now plans to remain single for a while but not permanently. “I think the biggest lessons I’ve learned: number one, don’t ever give up,” he stated.
He also emphasized the importance of persistence, noting, “It’s a numbers game, so if you ask 100 girls out, 10 percent are gonna say yes. 90 percent are gonna say no. So I guess the key is, follow your heart, follow your dreams and don’t ever give up.”
In September, Ed described his first encounter with Raemond during a fan meet and greet in Florida, where he was “amazed” by her presence. He fondly called her “this beautiful Italian dish” and described her as his “dream girl.” The two quickly hit it off, and Ed immediately began planning their next steps together. “This is the one,” he told a friend, who encouraged him to propose.
Using a paperclip to fashion a makeshift ring, Ed proposed at a restaurant, prompting a celebratory reaction from everyone present. “I [told her], ‘Look, I never want to let you go,’” he recalled. “‘I think I met the one. I want to marry you.’ And she said, ‘Yes,’ and we hugged and we kissed.”
However, just days later, Ed took to Instagram to announce the end of the engagement. “Love is a crazy thing… I did something that was impulsive, I asked this girl to marry me and after considering… It’s too soon and it’s not really what I want, obviously,” he said in a video. He added, “After talking to my family, I realized that I don’t wanna get married. I wanna be single. So I wish her – Porscha – the best in life.”
