A rare photo captured Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin together at their daughter Apple’s debutante ball in Paris. The former couple showcased their supportive relationship while attending the Le Bal des Débutantes for their 20-year-old daughter, with Paltrow sharing the moment on her Instagram on Sunday.
Dressed in a stylish black semi-sheer gown, Paltrow looked stunning, while Martin, in a classic black suit, complemented her appearance. They were also joined by their 18-year-old son, Moses, who donned a suit for the prestigious event.
Paltrow shared more images from the occasion, including a touching moment between herself and Apple. On Saturday, Apple dazzled in a custom baby blue Valentino gown adorned with a black bow.
According to Vogue, the exquisite dress, crafted over 750 hours, featured multiple layers of silk plissé chiffon, elegantly finished with a cinching black bow. The Le Bal des Débutantes is an exclusive event in Paris, rooted in the 18th-century English tradition of formally introducing young women to society.
During her Thanksgiving break from Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Apple traveled to Europe, while Moses made the trip from Brown University in Providence, RI. Paltrow has expressed her feelings of grief over becoming an empty nester since both of her children went off to college. In an October Instagram Story, she noted, “It’s very different,” adding that she experiences “waves of grief and sadness.”
She also shared that this transition has allowed her to reconnect with aspects of herself she hadn’t explored since her twenties, stating that she is using her “imagination” to keep herself occupied. In a September 2022 interview with “CBS Mornings,” Paltrow compared the experience of Apple leaving home to the emotions of childbirth.
Paltrow and Martin welcomed their two children during their marriage from 2003 to 2016. Since their separation, the “Shakespeare in Love” star has married Brad Falchuk in 2018, while Martin has been in a relationship with actress Dakota Johnson since 2017.
