Rumors regarding a flood at Ellen DeGeneres’ UK home were recently addressed by the former talk show host, who dismissed the speculation following Donald Trump’s victory in the 2024 presidential election.
On Sunday, while celebrating her dating anniversary with wife Portia de Rossi, DeGeneres took to Instagram to clarify the situation about their farmhouse in the Cotswolds, England. “Twenty years ago today, we began this relationship without realizing what a long, beautiful adventure it would be,” she wrote, sharing a photo of herself and de Rossi at their countryside estate.
“You are the best thing that ever happened in my life… I’m so happy we get to travel and explore the world together in the next 20 years, and I look forward to our first snowy Christmas.” Concluding her heartfelt post, DeGeneres, 66, reassured her followers, stating, “P.S. for those of you concerned, our UK farmhouse did NOT flood.”
The Daily Mail had reported the previous day that rising waters from torrential rain had affected the couple’s 43-acre property. After Trump’s election win over Democratic nominee Kamala Harris, DeGeneres and de Rossi, 51, are said to have left the US last month, with the TV mogul expressing a desire to “get the hell out” of the country due to feelings of disillusionment with the election outcome.
The couple, who tied the knot in 2008, had previously lived in Montecito, California, where they experienced significant flooding in the past. In 2018, DeGeneres’ property sustained damage from mudslides and flash flooding following a wildfire.
As reported by the Wrap, DeGeneres and de Rossi are planning to list their California home for sale after relocating overseas. Sources indicate that they have no intention of returning to the US. Despite these developments, the duo is believed to have purchased their expansive property in England prior to the election.
DeGeneres had actively supported Harris during the lead-up to the November 5 election, joining fellow celebrities like Taylor Swift and Jennifer Lopez. In August, she shared on Instagram, “There’s nothing more powerful than a woman whose time has come!! I can’t wait for @KamalaHarris to be our next president.”
