Kieran Culkin believes his children are not yet ready to see “Home Alone.” During an interview with E! News on Monday at the 2024 Gotham Awards in New York City, the “Succession” star, who appeared in the beloved Christmas film alongside his brother Macaulay Culkin, stated, “There’s still some scary parts.”
At 42, Kieran and his wife, Jazz Charton, are parents to two young kids: their daughter Kinsey, aged 5, and their son Wilder, who is 3. He pointed out, “For the 3-year-old, there’s the tarantula and there’s the guy at the end who said, ‘I’m gonna bite off all your fingers.’ That’s scary for a 3-year-old.”
Although Kieran playfully suggested that Kinsey and Wilder “might be ready for ‘Home Alone’ this year,” he indicated that he might hold off until “next year” before letting them watch it. In the classic films, Kieran and Macaulay played cousins Kevin and Fuller McCallister, respectively, in 1990’s “Home Alone” and 1992’s “Home Alone 2: Lost in New York.”
Macaulay, 44, previously mentioned that he showed the original movie, which catapulted him to fame as a child, to his son Dakota when he was just a year old in 2022. “He thinks it’s so funny,” Macaulay shared with “Entertainment Tonight” last year.
In a humorous moment, he recounted convincing his eldest child that he was the boy in the film. “I said, ‘Remember you had yellow hair? Remember when you were getting the bad guys?’ He’s like, ‘Yeah!’ He is such a liar. I’m like, ‘You don’t remember any of that.’”
The boys made their first public appearance at their father’s Hollywood Walk of Fame induction ceremony last December, where the “My Girl” star affectionately referred to them and his partner Song as his “three favorite people.” Since 2017, Macaulay and the “Suite Life of Zack & Cody” alum, 36, have been in a relationship.
