M.I.A. recently alleged that Jay-Z suggested she undergo plastic surgery when she joined Roc Nation. In a video shared by Livebitez, the “Paper Planes” artist, whose full name is Mathangi “Maya” Arulpragasam MBE, claimed this was among the first pieces of advice she received from the rap mogul. She rejected the notion, stating, “I’m not insecure, or I would’ve gone through with it.”
She dismissed criticisms that she needed validation, pointing out that many women around Jay-Z have undergone such procedures. “I’m the only one who didn’t, which already proves it’s not about insecurity,” she asserted, emphasizing that her confidence remained intact.
The singer also referenced her decision to leave Roc Nation in 2013 after the label pulled a trailer for a documentary about one of her albums. A representative for Jay-Z has yet to respond to these claims.
These remarks come in the middle of serious allegations against Jay-Z. A revised lawsuit filed under the pseudonym Jane Doe accuses the rapper of participating in an assault on a minor at a 2000 house party. The plaintiff, who was 13 at the time, also implicated Sean “Diddy” Combs in the case.
Jay-Z has strongly denied the accusations, calling them “heinous” and accusing attorney Tony Buzbee of attempting to extort him. He publicly declared his intent to fight the allegations and refused to settle, stating, “I will not give you one red penny.”
The rapper expressed dismay that his wife, Beyoncé, and their three children, Blue Ivy, Rumi, and Sir, must now confront these claims. He lamented the impact on his family, particularly his daughter, who may face questions from peers. “It’s heartbreaking to explain the cruelty and greed of people to children,” he shared, mourning the disruption caused by the allegations.
