Katie Holmes has firmly addressed the rumors surrounding her daughter Suri Cruise’s trust fund. The 45-year-old actress responded to a negative comment from a social media user regarding her daughter’s inheritance in a post made on Sunday.
In a snarky remark, the user commented, “Gosh, the hardships you guys face. Hey, are you worried if you can pay your rent AND eat this month? No? Yeah, me either… I wish these were my problems.” The comment continued, acknowledging Holmes’ hard work but questioning the relevance of her concerns when many mothers worldwide face more severe challenges.
Holmes countered by acknowledging the user’s perspective while emphasizing her responsibility to protect her child. “In the world today, I don’t want a target on my child’s back. It’s dangerous,” she explained.
Earlier that same day, the “First Daughter” star criticized a Daily Mail headline that claimed, “Suri Cruise the millionaire! Tom Cruise’s trust fund has ‘kicked in’ and mom Katie Holmes has one for her too.” Holmes dismissed the assertion by labeling it “completely false” and urged the publication to “stop making stuff up.”
She reinforced her stance in the post’s caption, stating simply, “Enough.” Holmes shares Suri with her ex-husband, Tom Cruise, whom she was married to from 2006 until 2012. In April, Suri celebrated her 18th birthday by taking a rainy stroll with a friend in New York City.
Previously reported by Page Six, Suri and her father have been estranged for several years, but she maintains a close relationship with her mother. In a 2017 interview, Holmes expressed her gratitude, stating, “I feel very blessed to have such a special daughter. Being her mom is absolutely the greatest gift and privilege.”
