Nicole Muirbrook, Taylor Sheridan’s wife, has played a remarkable role in his life and work. The couple shares a deep connection rooted in their mutual passion for cowboy culture, which flourished when they met in an acting class. Together, they manage two ranches in Texas and have been happily married since 2013, raising their son Gus, born in 2010.
Muirbrook frequently shares glimpses of their ranch lifestyle on Instagram, showcasing her unwavering support for Sheridan’s creative endeavors. For Father’s Day in June 2021, she expressed her affection in a heartfelt tribute, stating, “I’m grateful to be sharing life, love, and parenthood with a wonderful man like you. We love you Baby.”
Born in Salt Lake City, Utah, Muirbrook initially didn’t envision a modeling career. Although she was discovered at a mall by a talent scout, she identified more as a tomboy, relishing the outdoors and shunning conventional beauty norms.
“I never wanted to brush my hair. I was always in the dirt,” she shared with Cowgirl Magazine. Encouraged by her mother, a former Miss America runner-up, she ventured into modeling, which led to opportunities across Europe, including a stay in Milan and time spent in Miami, gracing the pages of prestigious magazines like Vogue and Marie Claire.
Her upbringing on a ranch instilled a love for horses that endures to this day. Muirbrook’s passion for equestrian sports has blossomed, and she actively competes alongside Sheridan in reining and cutting. In 2020, she achieved recognition by winning the Careity Foundation’s Celebrity Cutting competition, raising funds for cancer research and claiming her first buckle.
Additionally, she was appointed to the board of the National Cowgirl Hall of Fame in April 2021, while Sheridan was honored in 2020 with induction into the Texas Cowboy Hall of Fame. The couple’s paths crossed in Los Angeles, where Muirbrook moved to pursue an acting career in her early twenties. She appeared in various shows, including How I Met Your Mother and Dark Blue.
Seeking an acting coach, she met Sheridan, who was then a rising star on Sons of Anarchy. Their relationship blossomed quickly, leading to cohabitation in San Fernando Valley. Muirbrook fondly recalled their early struggles, saying, “At the time it was like ‘let’s just make enough to pay a mortgage or rent or food.’
We were literally starving.” Sheridan’s writing talents emerged during this period, culminating in Oscar recognition for films like Sicario and Hell or High Water. After dating for several years, they exchanged vows on September 18, 2013.
In celebration of their seventh anniversary, Muirbrook shared a heartfelt post featuring rare wedding photos, expressing gratitude for their journey together. Four years later, she commemorated another anniversary with photos on Instagram, reflecting on their adventures and the joy of sharing life together.
Their son Gus, born on September 23, 2010, is a focal point of their family life. Sheridan has spoken about his commitment to raising Gus outside of Los Angeles, emphasizing the importance of family activities over career obligations.
Muirbrook echoed these sentiments, describing Gus’s active outdoor lifestyle on their ranch, stating, “He’s never on his phone. He’s never on his X-Box. He’s always outside with the dogs, fishing with his buds, or roller-skating in the barn.”
The couple transitioned from Utah to Texas, driven by Sheridan’s dislike for the snow. Muirbrook recounted the moment when Sheridan decided they should relocate, saying, “He rolled over one morning and said, ‘Honey, we’re getting the hell out of here.’”
They now own two ranches, the Bosque Ranch and the historic 6666 Ranch, the latter serving as a filming location for Yellowstone. Muirbrook frequently shares insights into their ranch life, which includes caring for numerous animals.
Muirbrook’s support for Sheridan’s career is evident as she often attends premieres and award ceremonies with him. She actively promotes his projects on Instagram, celebrating milestones such as the release of the prequel series 1923 and his directorial endeavors for Mayor of Kingstown, demonstrating her pride in his achievements and dedication to their shared life.
