Ree Drummond has found a unique way to show her affection for her husband, Ladd, this holiday season by gifting him an unexpected yet thoughtful surprise. On December 20, the Pioneer Woman gave her social media followers a glimpse of her Christmas gift preparation, admitting she may have gone slightly overboard.
In a series of Instagram Story clips, Ree first hinted at the gift, showcasing two neatly wrapped decorative boxes tied with festive red ribbons. She then invited her followers to take a peek inside, revealing dozens of Carmex medicated lip balms arranged in rows and packed tightly into the boxes.
A playful twist on holiday gifting as Ree fills Ladd’s world with lip balm
Joking about Ladd’s unusual concern, Ree shared that his “biggest fear is a zombie apocalypse,” not because of zombies, but because he wouldn’t have access to his favorite lip balm. Just when viewers thought she was finished, she filled up yet another box with even more Carmex, playfully dubbing it the ideal present using what she called “wife math.”
The lip balm will undoubtedly be useful for Ladd, whose days are largely spent outdoors as a cattle rancher. The couple, who are now empty nesters with five grown children, also enjoy time together in their outdoor hot tub on their Oklahoma ranch. Ree, while preparing the gift, cheekily asked her followers not to spill the beans to her husband, as he’s not active on Instagram.
This holiday season also brought the Drummond family an even greater gift — their first grandchild. On December 18, their eldest daughter Alex and her husband, Mauricio Scott, welcomed a baby girl, Sofia Maria. Ree expressed her gratitude, sharing a hospital photo of herself holding the newborn while Ladd looked on.
