Lynne Spears extended birthday wishes to Britney Spears despite their prolonged estrangement. On Monday, the 69-year-old shared a heartfelt message on Facebook to mark her daughter’s special day.
“Happy Happy Birthday to my beautiful daughter, Britney! You will always have that beautiful smile!” Lynne wrote, posting a nostalgic photo of Britney as a toddler. She continued by expressing her wishes for Britney to have the “happiest birthday ever.”
Earlier this week, Britney celebrated her 43rd birthday with a vacation in Mexico, opting to spend time with friends. Last year, the “Gimme More” singer celebrated her birthday differently, joining her mom and brother Bryan for the occasion.
At that time, sources told TMZ that Britney and Lynne were making strides toward mending their relationship, which had been strained by Britney’s 13-year conservatorship. During that period, her father, Jamie, had control over her financial, professional, and personal affairs.
According to People, Lynne was actively working to reconnect with her daughter, demonstrating love and remorse for the past. “Her mom loves her without question,” a source stated last year, highlighting Lynne’s efforts to take accountability for their estranged bond.
Britney reportedly appreciated time with her mother, though their relationship remained complex, with both seeming to rely on one another emotionally. In May, tensions flared again after Britney’s public fight with ex-boyfriend Paul Richard Soliz at the Chateau Marmont. She accused her mother of exacerbating the situation.
Despite missing her family, Britney revealed she had no intention of reconciling with her father. An insider in December 2023 emphasized Britney’s lasting resentment, stating she would “never forgive him” for the trauma he caused.
The two had battled in court for years over allegations of financial mismanagement and other grievances tied to her conservatorship. In her memoir, “The Woman in Me,” Britney accused her parents of exploiting her, claiming she was treated as a means to sustain their finances.
She further described her father as controlling and critical, alleging he often shamed her appearance and restricted her diet. Though the conservatorship ended in November 2021, its legal closure only occurred in April 2024. For Britney, however, the resolution brought little solace, as she felt there was “no justice” for the pain inflicted by her family.
