Jennifer Tilly, now a part of “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills,” isn’t shy about her substantial wealth. During Tuesday night’s episode, Tilly mentioned that her connection to “The Simpsons,” co-created by her ex-husband Sam Simon, still provides her with financial benefits. The long-running animated series has been airing on Fox since 1989.
Appearing on the show with a $33,000 Louis Vuitton purse shaped like a cruise ship, Tilly later discussed her fortune in a confessional. She shared with producers that her marriage to Simon, which lasted seven years with a decade-long relationship, played a pivotal role in her current financial standing.
“When we divorced, I got a portion of ‘The Simpsons’ as part of the settlement,” Tilly explained, adding that no one at the time anticipated the show’s incredible longevity. She admitted to feeling gratitude for Simon daily, saying, “Honestly, every day I think, ‘Thank you, Sam.’”
Despite their separation in 1991, Tilly and Simon remained on good terms. Reports indicate that Simon left “The Simpsons” in 1993 with a lucrative agreement. This arrangement guaranteed him $20 million to $30 million annually from licensing fees and merchandise revenue.
Following Simon’s death in 2015 from cancer, documents revealed that Tilly continues to receive a portion of his estate’s income from the show. By 2018, it was reported that Tilly was entitled to 30 percent of the net proceeds collected by Simon’s estate from Fox.
Combining this income with her earnings as an actress, poker player, and reality TV star, Tilly’s net worth is estimated at $40 million, according to Celebrity Net Worth.
