Jennifer Garner reportedly urged her ex-husband Ben Affleck to strengthen his marriage with Jennifer Lopez before the couple decided to divorce, according to an exclusive source for Page Six. As their relationship began to face challenges, Garner was supportive and encouraged Affleck to invest in their marriage.
The 52-year-old actress even developed a friendship with Lopez, 55, and they maintained regular communication. However, Page Six has learned that Garner hasn’t been in contact with Lopez recently, although she has no issues with her.
“At the end of the day, she just wants Ben to be happy,” the source explains. A representative for Garner did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Page Six. Garner and Affleck ended their 10-year marriage in 2015 and have three children together: Violet, 18, Seraphina, 15, and Samuel, 12.
Despite Garner’s support, Lopez filed for divorce from Affleck on the second anniversary of their wedding ceremony in Georgia, which took place after they eloped in Las Vegas on July 17, 2022.
As previously reported, Garner and Affleck spent Thanksgiving together, collaborating with the Midnight Mission to provide meals for 2,000 homeless and near-homeless individuals before enjoying a family meal at Garner’s Brentwood, California, home with their children.
At that time, a source shared with Page Six that the Oscar winner felt “blessed” to be with Garner and their kids on Thanksgiving following his separation from Lopez. Although Garner and Affleck have been separated for some time, the insider noted that he feels a sense of comfort with her.
“Ben has a strong relationship with Jen that will never dissipate because they have a lot of history together and she’s the mother of his kids,” the source revealed. The insider emphasized that they will always remain close due to their shared children and their commitment to co-parenting amicably.
