A fine line is being walked by Harry Styles. On Wednesday, the 30-year-old “Watermelon Sugar” artist revealed a collaboration between his Pleasing brand and JW Anderson, featuring an eye-catching capsule collection with some daring items.
The newly launched collection, available for purchase, includes metallic nail polishes, Pleasing’s signature crewneck and hoodie sweatshirts, and high-fashion designs by Jonathan Anderson, the brand’s namesake designer.
The collection features a new iteration of the viral JW Anderson patchwork cardigan Styles wore in 2021, which inspired fans to create their own versions. This time, instead of color blocking, the updated style showcases a shoulder adorned with balloons ($890).
However, a nearly $300 keychain has truly moved fans, as the tiny bedazzled accessory takes on a phallic design. The website describes it as “a bold and playful accessory crafted from durable leather in a striking silhouette,” highlighting the whimsical shape.
Fans reacted strongly to the daring accessory, with one tweeting, “pleasing has lost their damn minds.” Another joked, “300????? bro I wouldn’t pay that much for a real thing.” This isn’t the first instance where the “Don’t Worry Darling” star has playfully flaunted his provocative style.
His performance look at the 2021 Grammys gained attention, featuring a Gucci leather suit and feather boa, but the standout detail was a necklace charm that initially appeared to be a banana, which was, in fact, phallic in shape.
Eagle-eyed fans have noticed that he continues to wear this playful charm alongside his gold cross necklace, seen in an image of him and Anderson reviewing their design mockups. Styles’ memorable fashion choices often reflect a sense of humor, which was central to this partnership with Anderson.
Harry Lambert, Pleasing’s creative director and Styles’ personal stylist, expressed to Vogue that “JW Anderson has always been at the top of our list for collaboration.”
He added, “It felt like such a perfect mash-up of brands. [Harry and I] both love Jonathan’s aesthetic, and the humor and joy in JW Anderson collections resonate strongly with Pleasing.” Lambert emphasized that the use of illustrations, color, and emotion is deeply connected to Pleasing’s vision.
