Guilt on Masterpiece Ending Explained

We see Jake McCall reluctant to let his brother Max be held responsible for accidentally hitting and killing an elderly man in the Season 1 finale of Guilt on Masterpiece. “Max wouldn’t do that,” Jake insists. Kenney, who is a private detective, tries to persuade Jake to betray Max. Besides, Kenny has dealt with Max before and witnessed the lawyer’s ruthless ways himself. Jake, however, strives to remain loyal.

As it turned out, what began as a bonding experience between brothers ended with their split. After Jake revealed his misdeed to his lover Angie, who eventually confessed to acting as Walter’s niece, the situation became dire. With the aid of their shared information and a little listening, they come to know that Max plans to blackmail Walter’s neighbour Sheila into supporting the plan. The only course of action remaining for Jake is to betray his brother. Max flashes a small, sly smile as he is escorted out by the police.
