Chicago Fire

Derek Haas and Michael Brandt created the television series Chicago Fire, which is a hugely successful American action drama. The show follows the professional and personal lives of the Chicago Fire Department’s firemen, paramedics, and rescue personnel. The departments of the Chicago Fire Department depicted in the television series are Rescue Squad Company 3, Engine Company 51, Battalion 25, Truck Company 81, and Ambulance 61. There are nine seasons to Chicago Fire.

It covers the lives of Chicago Fire Department paramedics, firefighters, and rescue personnel. Putting their life on the line every day for the sake of others takes a toll on them. This long-running sitcom is popular among viewers because of how they preserve their personal and professional connections.

The action drama initially aired on October 10, 2012, and has since been renewed for many seasons. The show has amassed a large following throughout the years. The city of Chicago is splattered throughout the screen, thanks to the franchise. It’s especially thrilling for die-hard fans who must be wondering where ‘Chicago Fire’ is shot. Here’s what we’ve discovered!

Where was Chicago Fire filmed?

The series takes place in various locations of Chicago, however, the inside scenes are shot in a studio. Let’s take a closer look at the key locations.

The Cinespace Chicago Film Studios, which is one of the country’s largest studios outside of Hollywood, L.A., is where the majority of the inside sequences in “Chicago Fire” were shot. The studio is located at 2621 West 15th Place in Chicago. This family-owned business has 32 soundproof stages ranging in size from 8,000 to 20,000 square feet, as well as ten production offices and plenty of prop storage. The studio’s other significant credits include “Empire,” “Shameless,” “Widows,” and “The Chi.”

Even though the interior of Firehouse 51 was produced in the studio, the firehouse’s face is the Chicago Fire Department Engine 18, which is located at 1360 South Blue Island Avenue. The Firehouse 51 kitchen, which appears in the series, is shot on-site at times and inside the studio set at other times. Lottie’s in Bucktown used to be the filming location for Molly’s Pub, but to prevent disrupting business at the real bar, a copy was built in the studio.

The Chicago Fire Academy, located at 558 West De Koven Street, was chosen as a filming location. You’ll be pleased to learn that it was also the site of the Great Chicago Fire of 1871. The ground level has an exhibit about the incident’s history, including a plaque that marks the precise location of the incident as well as old firefighting gear.

Another option is The University of Illinois at Chicago, which is a film-friendly university that makes on-location filming a breeze for filmmakers. The campus has appeared in several films, including ‘Shameless,’ ‘Empire,’ and others.

What is the plot of the series?

Chicago Fire follows the professional and personal lives of Chicago’s Firehouse 51 firefighters and paramedics. The show is episodic, with some plots running throughout the seasons.

Season nine, however, ended on a big cliffhanger, and fans are eager to see what happens next. If you haven’t seen season nine yet, jump ahead to the next section!

Severide, Cruz, Capp, and Tony are called to an underwater boat rescue in the season nine finale, but as they attempt to swim the victim to safety, the boat collapses and confines them. The show faded to black as the water level rose, leaving fans to wonder what had transpired all this time.
