Have you completed watching The Chestnut Man, a new Netflix series, and been blown away by how it ended? Although the entire series was thrilling to watch, it was the finale that caught everyone off guard. At the end of any serial killer series, there is always a lot of excitement. However, by the end of this series, there are several mysteries to be answered. In this article, you will find the Chestnut man ending explained with a brief premise as well.
This six-part Netflix original series was a riveting psychological thriller. It is based on Soren Sveistrup’s book of the same name, and it is directed by Kasper Barfoed and Mikkel Serup. The chestnut man, like other serial killers, has a pattern and motive for his crimes. A mother, according to the murderer, must always defend her children. The Plot
The chestnut men are the calling card of a strange serial killer who has left the disfigured remains of apparently unrelated women in modern-day Copenhagen. The series begins with the revelation of a family’s horrific killings on a remote farm in 1987. It begins with shocking pictures of a family being killed in their own house, discovered by a soon-to-be-retired cop investigating stray farm animals.
The chestnut man also connects the killings to a year-old missing-girl case involving Kristine Hartung, the daughter of politician Rosa Hartung, which the police had deemed solved. The case has been assigned to Detective Naia Thulin. They find a small figure made of chestnut lying close to the body with her reluctant new companion, Mark Hess. A curious piece of evidence, the fingerprint of Kristine, is soon discovered on the chestnut man. So, who is responsible for these horrific murders? What role does Kristine play in this? All of your questions will be answered later in the article.
The Chestnut Man: Ending Explained
In the ending, the series’ chestnut man is discovered with the missing girl, Kristine, whom he conceals from everyone to get revenge on Rosa. Throughout the series, the investigators attempt to piece together the missing bits but are unable to identify the true perpetrator. They did, however, catch several additional faulters at one point, believing them to be the culprit of the serial killings. It was eventually revealed that the criminal, or chestnut man, was a member of their team who was keeping a careful eye on each case.
Who Is The Chestnut Man?
Toke, who goes under the alias of forensic specialist Simon Genz, is the chestnut man or the mastermind behind all of the murders. Toke and Astridware were adopted by the family with whom Rosa resided in 1985. Rosa developed a dislike towards Toke and Astrid while living with them and once accused Toke of sexual assault. Toke and Astrid resolved to seek retribution after many years, driven by the family’s mistreatment. Before murdering his intended victims, Toke attempted to persuade the law to act to protect children who were victims of violence, abuse, and cruelty. Throughout his childhood, he felt so abused that he turned out to be a psychic murderer.
Will there Be The Chestnut Man Season 2?
Season 2 has yet to be announced, but we anticipate it to return with more secrets and thrills. There is nothing left to take up where Season 1 left off since the six episodes virtually complete the narrative. Although the likelihood of a second season is quite strong, as seen by the series’ positive reviews. Hopefully, we will see Naia Thulin with new cases and tales under her belt. Toke’s chapter has come to a close, but fresh beginnings are always welcome.
