It is a blast from the past!. ABC has decided to revive the classic Wonder Years and pay homage to the 19080’s beloved comedy-drama. The series starred Fred Savage, who will return after almost 2 decades as the executive producer of “The Wonder Years” reboot, all set to premiere on ABC. Originally “The Wonder Years” was a massive hit for ABC. Without a doubt, it is one of the most influential and important sitcoms in the history of classic TV. It would not be wrong if I said that it shaped the way that sitcoms are made today. The reboot was announced by the creators in July last year. Since then, fans have been looking forward to the announcement of the release date for The Wonder Years(2021). So I have gathered and put down all the information on ABC’s upcoming coming-of-age saga here.
The new Wonder Years is created by Saladin K. Patterson, and the initial teaser was released back in May this year. After 3 months, the full-length trailer is out, which was dropped on Twitter this August. Although the teaser exhibited Cheadle’s narration but with the release of the official trailer of The Wonder Years, we got to see the whole cast in action. The reboot strikes a similar tone as its predecessor. But this new perspective on a classic coming of age story in that of the life of a Black American family during this era will be exciting to watch. It is evident from the trailer that this reimagining of The Wonder Years won’t be shying away from the plaguing social and cultural issues back then.

Premise
Both the original as well as the revival depicts the social and family life of a boy in a stereotypical middle-class family from 1986. The protagonist Kevin Arnold was in the center, and his old self recalled his childhood growing up and learning about personal and social issues. The revival is, however a coming of age story set in the late 1960s. It will focus on a Black family that lives in Montgomery, Alabama. Moreover, it takes a nostalgic look at the Williamses through the point of view of a twelve-year-old boy Deam Williams. Considering the timeline, it is evident that this Black family will certainly witness an amount of adversity that the American Arnold family in the original Wonder Years never had to face.
