Indeed, everyone misses moving on. Camila Cabello’s dispute with her former girl group, Fifth Harmony, began even before she left the group in December 2016 to pursue a solo career. Why did Camila leave Fifth Harmony?
Camila, Normani, Ally Brooke, Lauren Jauregui, and Dinah Jane met on season 2 of The X Factor USA in 2012. They auditioned as soloists, but judges Simon Cowell, Britney Spears, L.A. Reid, and Demi Lovato opted to put them as a group. Their harmonies were excellent, but they battled to define their identity from the start, going through several name changes before landing on Fifth Harmony, which viewers at home proposed.
In December 2012, the girls came third in the Fox competition and received deals with Syco Music, Cowell and Reid’s labels, and Epic Records, respectively. Better Together, their debut EP, was released in October 2013, followed by two albums, Reflection in 2015 and 7/27 in 2016.
However, towards the end of 2016, fissures began to appear in the organization. Camila was unable to be found, while Normani, Lauren, Ally, and Dinah were observed hanging out together on many occasions. Then, in December, Fifth Harmony issued a statement stating they had been “advised by [Camila’s] agents” that she had resigned, which she subsequently stated was “completely false.” A highly publicized back-and-forth began, showing that the girls had been in trouble for quite some time.
Fifth Harmony went on to release one more album, a 2017’s self-titled, before taking an extended break in March 2018 to pursue separate projects.
Camila has thus far recorded two solo albums, while Normani, Lauren, Ally, and Dinah have yet to make their debuts.
Camila Cabello’s Real Reason For Leaving Fifth Harmony Is So, So Unfortunate
Camila Cabello quit Fifth Harmony in December 2016 after six years as a member to pursue a solo career. While the world speculated on the cause of her departure, Cabello rose to stardom in the music industry. In a May 2018 interview with Rolling Stone, she discussed Fifth Harmony, her solo career, and her creative ups and downs. Your jaw will drop when you learn the true reason Camila Cabello left Fifth Harmony.
According to the actress, she did not depart due to an overinflated ego. She left because she wanted to become a breakout star and a name for herself. While fans and the media thought that Cabello felt she was a standout in the group and that her fellow Fifth Harmony members were jealous, Cabello wants everyone to know that this was not the truth. Cabello went on to elaborate on her feelings about her departure, specifically her belief that if the girls were in the same situation today, knowing what they know now, the band would still be together.
That is a really good argument to go alone. Creative people, such as Cabello and the members of Fifth Harmony, require the flexibility to pursue their own interests. And if Fifth Harmony was holding her back, you can understand her desire to go off on her own.
Since then, Cabello has made it clear that this was not the intended outcome.
Cabello revealed in a January 2018 interview with The New York Times that she felt driven out of the group due to her ambition to make her own music. Cabello basically left the group to seek other creative channels for her music since being in the group didn’t afford her that flexibility.
The arrangement didn’t seem to be working for the rest of Fifth Harmony either. In March 2018, the band declared their decision to disband. It appears like the scenario was not working for any of them, which is bad because they were doing well.
Years later, Ally Brooke claimed that Fifth Harmony did not try to replace Cabello following her departure since it would have felt wrong. They might replace her with a well-known artist or locate a new member through a reality competition show. They ultimately opted to continue as a four-person group.
