Paola Lázaro was born and brought up in San Juan, Puerto Rico. She was in Puerto Rico till she completed high school. After graduating high school, she left to do her higher studies in the United States. She did her Bachelor in Fine Arts at the State University of New York at Purchase. In 2009, she graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in dramatic writing. After that, she did her master’s in Screenplay at Columbia University.
She did her thesis under the guidance of playwright Stephen Adly Guirgis. During the course of that time, the two became really close; he even mentions her as his best friend. Guirgis had a great influence on both her life and her career. After completing her master’s, she became a part of a community called the Emerging Young Writer’s Group at the Public Theatre. She has also worked on a summer program with Labyrinth Theatre Company.

After her Master’s in Fine Arts from Columbia, she worked with the Atlantic Theatre Company, and it was in New York. She worked there as a playwright-in-residence. This program was by the Tow Foundation. It provides funds to new artists working on the script through the New York City theater company.
She worked there for a year from 2016-2017. During this time, she focused on her drama, Hector I Miss Him (2017). This play tells the story of a bunch of characters in Old San Juan, Puerto Rico. It deals with love, addiction, and fear. The play was produced by The Atlantic Theatre Company. It was directed by David Mendizabal. The play premiered on January 11, 2017. It got so popular that they had to extend the original runtime, which was on January 23.
The play portrayed everyday life in Puerto Rico. Though she grew up in a different environment than the characters she created, she still believes there are some similarities between them. The play was able to capture the culture of Puerto Rico. Her play was a celebration of the Latino culture, and it was dedicated to Latinos everywhere.

Paola Lázaro has a background in playwright, and she did her studies in them. She also has experience in them. But she is not only a playwright but an actress as well. Her acting debut was with the play ‘To the Bone,’ which is based on an interview conducted by the director Lisa Ramirez with Latin American immigrant poultry workers. The play was under the Cherry Lane Theatre.
In this play, Paola Lázaro played the role of Lupe, the daughter of the main character Olga who was Ramirez herself. Olga is a law student. Her performance in this was a critical hit and earned her a Drama Desk Award nomination for Outstanding Featured Actress.
Though she started out as a Theatre artist, she eventually took up film roles. In one of her movies called the Pimp, She played the role of a sex worker. In the movie Underground, she had the role of an undercover officer. Her Recent project includes her role as Juanita “Princess” Sanchez on AMC’s TV show The Walking Dead.

Paola Lázaro’s love life is a mystery. This actress likes to keep her love life a secret. There are not many rumors regarding her love life. But the chemistry with her Walking Dead co-star caused many fans to believe that they are dating.
Fans were not expecting the pairing of General Michael Mercer, played by Michael James Shaw, and Juanita “Princess” Sanchez, played by Paola Lázaro. It was in Episode 15 of the show titled Truth it was revealed they were more than just a fling.
Micheal James and Lázaro share excellent chemistry both onscreen and offscreen. It was this that made fans think that they are dating. But so far, neither of them has admitted that they are dating. They are close friends and nothing more.
