The most loved children’s show on Nickelodeon – ‘Blue’s Clues’ had a host, ‘Steve.’ Who would not know him? His presence on the show made him widely loved by the children and their parents.
But what happened when he left the show, handing over his position to someone else? Was he finding himself not happy anymore doing what he did? Or was there something else? Let us learn all about it.
Nickelodeon’s ‘Blue’s Clues’ and Steve
The favorite show among the preschoolers and their parents, Blue’s Clues, was doing really great on the channel. Although, as told by the media Steve that their budget was 1/4th the budget of any show that was hosted on the channel, they were doing pretty well according to that.
Steve landed this job at the age of 22 years, which was really commendable. This series started in the year 1996 and had six successful seasons to its name.

It wasn’t that he did not get recognition among people because of the show. Nor was it that they didn’t deem him important. It was very evident that everybody loved him, and he became the most essential element of the show. However, what made him leave the show? Read on to know!
Why did Steve leave the position of the ‘host’ in such a well-performing show?
Well, it is a question that can baffle anyone’s mind. Why would any man leave a position where he is loved for what he does and is known for that particular thing? However, practically there are reasons behind anything that takes place.
He felt that it was time for him to leave, as he was sort of an adult in his words, but not really. He felt that he was getting older. Once, he also mentioned that he was losing his hair very quickly, which worried him, and he didn’t want to occupy that position in such a state.
This was the major reason. But some other reasons here and there have also been stated by him. What amount of weight do they hold when compared to the primary ones? We don’t know. But they do exist. Firstly, he didn’t like the khaki pants he used to wear as a costume.
He also found it difficult for him to act on the stage with no actual human character but an animated dog. Happily handing over the position to Josh Dela Cruz, he mentioned that he is right for the position and he can definitely ‘fill his shoes.’
A rumor of him dying spread like wildfire once. And to extinguish that, he had to appear on screen. It made the young viewers really accept the fact that he was very much alive! Considering it as a whole, Steve’s journey in Blue’s Clues has been really amazing, and he was widely loved for what he did.
Young children and their parents were literally hooked on the show because of him. He stated that he left the show in 2000, but the recorded shows aired on TV till 2002.
