When they first met him, he was this smart, stoned, burnt-out pothead with no clear future. Patrick believed they had gone a long way, but now Mike is planning to pursue a career as a lawyer, he is getting married to the woman of his desires, and he has the resources and freedom to pursue any goal.
Adams acknowledged the hardship of being apart from his family, but he also thought Mike’s narrative was over. It was even simpler for Mike to leave the legal business when he realized Rachel was also quitting the program. Adams didn’t play Mike in Suits for the last time in the season 7 finale, though.
