After Jeezy Jenkins, her husband, filed for divorce last month, Jeannie Mai Jenkins finally spoke out. After two and a half years of marriage, the rapper, 46, filed for divorce on September 14, 2023, and The Real host, 44, shared her first Instagram post on Wednesday.
In a notebook, black ink was used to write the words “Sometimes, you need to take a break and disconnect, to heal,” which were displayed in the post. Jenkins captioned the post with a single black heart emoji and added a heart as the final touch to the note.
In Atlanta, Georgia, Jeezy filed for divorce, according to documents obtained by PEOPLE. According to the paperwork, the couple is “currently living in a bona fide state of separation,” and that their marriage is “irretrievably broken” with “no hope for reconciliation.”

At their Atlanta home in March 2021, the ex-couple got married. In January 2022, they welcomed their daughter Monaco.
Jeezy, whose real name is Jay Wayne Jenkins, wants to share joint legal custody of Monaco, according to the divorce papers.
The “Put On” singer is also the father of two children: daughter Amra Nor Jenkins, who was born in 2014 to Jeezy and his then-partner Mahlet “Mahi” Gebremedhin, and son Jadarius Dykes, who was born in 1996 with Tynesha Dyke.
Jenkins had praised Jeezy for his book Adversity for Sale, reaching the New York Times Best Seller list just a week prior to the divorce petition.
Alongside a sweet video with their daughter Monaco, Jenkins wrote on Instagram, “Today I celebrate a remarkable milestone achieved by my husband, @jeezy, whose memoir ‘Adversity For Sale’ has soared to the New York Times bestsellers list.”
“This moment isn’t just a testament to your literary skills, baby, but a recognition of your ability to inspire through the power of storytelling,” she continued. “I’m endlessly grateful for your voice in this world. Honored to walk beside you, my love 🖤.”
Jeezy replied to the Sept. 6 post with two love heart emojis.
