While her son struggles, Cher responds to the accusation that her daughter-in-law was abducted. Marieangela King, Cher’s daughter-in-law, recently accused her of planning a kidnapping incident involving Cher’s son, Elijah Blue Allman. Cher has now spoken out about the allegation. This accusation came to light last month when King claimed that Cher hired four men to kidnap Allman from a New York City hotel room in November 2022 in a court document related to her ongoing divorce from Allman.
Cher strongly rejected these accusations, stating that the incident was connected to an intervention intended to deal with her son’s alleged addiction issues. In a People exclusive, Cher said, “I’m not experiencing any problem that millions of people in the United States aren’t. I’m a mother, and this is my job – to do whatever it takes to help my children. When it comes to your children, you do everything in your power.”
She went on to emphasize the joy of motherhood despite its challenges. “Mostly, when you think of your children, you just smile, love them, and try to be there for them,” said Cher.
The allegations made by Marieangela King emerged as part of her divorce case with Elijah Blue Allman. Their relationship had seen its share of ups and downs, with Allman initially filing for divorce in 2021, followed by an attempt to reconcile, as mentioned in King’s filing.
King explained in her filing that she and Allman made the decision to stay together for 12 days in a hotel room in order to rekindle their romance. But she asserted that when alleged kidnappers got involved, things drastically changed. King stated in the court document, “I was told by one of the four men who took him that they were hired by petitioner’s mother. She also mentioned that Allman, who was reportedly in a treatment facility with an undisclosed location, had been out of her sight and out of reach since August 2022.
Cher’s response to these matters was that her son’s status was a private family concern. Her concern reportedly arose when she learned that Allman had been ejected from the Chateau Marmont Hotel in West Hollywood in the fall of 2022.
King also alleged in her filing that Allman had no access to his phone, a common practice in rehab facilities. However, she further claimed that she, too, had her personal belongings confiscated after Allman was admitted.
In conclusion, King expressed understanding of the family’s efforts to ensure Allman’s well-being and expressed her desire for the best outcome for her husband. The next court hearing in Elijah Blue Allman and Marieangela King’s divorce case is scheduled for October 27 in Los Angeles.
