Sam Asghari, a 29-year-old actor, expressed his everlasting support for his ex-wife, Britney Spears, in response to the recent release of her memoir during an exclusive TMZ interview in Los Angeles. The previous Tuesday saw the publication of the book, “The Woman in Me,” in which Britney refers to Sam as a “gift from God.”
Sam, the Iranian-American performer, warmly responded to Britney’s heartfelt words by saying, “To be honest, that made me smile.” He also praised Britney Spears’ memoir, which has quickly become a bestseller as it explores her remarkable journey to superstardom and her 13-year-long battle with a conservatorship. Sam told TMZ, “I’m incredibly proud of her. I hope she takes over the world.”
Asghari, renowned for his part in “Special Ops: Lioness,” filed for divorce from the Grammy-winning musician in August. He had previously met Britney on the set of her “Slumber Party” music video in 2016. In September 2021, they got engaged, and they got married in March 2022.
It’s important to note that “The Woman in Me” was released a little over two months after they filed for divorce. Thus, the book does not go into detail about how their marriage ended. Instead, Britney Spears focuses primarily on her first interaction with the model/actor and their instant connection, referring to him as “a gift from God” and noting how steady he is and how much she loves that he doesn’t drink in her book.
Before they got married, Asghari gave the “Hold Me Closer” singer a lot of support throughout her battle to remove the conservatorship in 2021 and her mental health therapy in 2019. After Britney’s public speech in June 2021, during which she asked for her father, Jamie Spears, to be removed as her conservator, insiders told PEOPLE how Sam had a significant impact on her life. According to the insider, “Sam has been Britney’s rock for years. He makes sure that she eats well and works out. She leans on him for everything. He works and has his own life too but is around as much as he can.”
Two years after her conservatorship was formally ended in November 2021, “The Woman in Me” was released by Gallery Books, a Simon & Schuster imprint, on October 24. Before the book’s publication, Britney shared her long-held desire to speak her truth in an exclusive interview with PEOPLE, saying, “It is finally time for me to raise my voice and speak out, and my fans deserve to hear it directly from me. No more conspiracy, no more lies — just me owning my past, present, and future.”
Tuesday saw the publication of the book, and the following day the international pop sensation rushed to social media to thank her fans for the book’s phenomenal success. She wrote on X, which used to be known as Twitter, “It’s happening ✨🤓📖 !!! My book is the highest-selling celebrity memoir in history, and it’s only day 1 !!! Thank you to the fans who have been so supportive !!! Love you all 🌹 !!! #TheWomanInMe @gallerybooks @simonandschuster.”
