Robbie Williams recently shared that he’s shed two stone in weight thanks to a medication similar to Ozempic. The former Take That singer, aged 49 and standing at 1.85m (5ft 11ins) tall, admitted that he went from weighing 13st 13lb to 12st 1lb by using an appetite suppressant.

He humorously mentioned needing the medication because he’s been diagnosed with “type 2 self-loathing.” However, beyond the jokes, he emphasized that being overweight has a profoundly negative impact on his mental health, describing it as “shockingly catastrophic.” He revealed how harsh his inner voice can be when he isn’t slim, likening it to the outspoken views of Katie Hopkins on overweight individuals.

Williams spoke to The Times and shared, “Babe, I’m on Ozempic… Well, something like Ozempic. It’s like a Christmas miracle. I’ve gone from 13st 13lb to 12st 1lb. And I need it medically. I’ve been diagnosed with type 2 self-loathing. It’s shockingly catastrophic to my mental health to be bigger. My inner voice talks to me like Katie Hopkins talks about fat people. It’s maddening.”

He also reflected on his mental health struggles in the latest trailer for his upcoming Netflix documentary series, set to be released on November 8. The four-part series coincides with the 25th anniversary of his solo career and offers an intimate glimpse into his personal archive spanning three decades, featuring never-before-seen footage and new interviews. In the trailer, Robbie discussed his journey and career, acknowledging the difficulties that led to a “nervous, mental breakdown in front of thousands of people.” He mused about the past’s hold on him and the need for change in his life.

He also touched upon the challenges of fame, particularly when he joined Take That at the age of 16, saying, “I felt like I was giving more and more of myself away to the point where you don’t recognize yourself anymore. Being in the spotlight, you can’t trust anybody. I was having a nervous mental breakdown in front of thousands of people. The thing that would destroy me has also made me successful. Touch the fire, push when it says pull, and see if I can live. I don’t know how easy it is for people to get to know me.”

Robbie Williams has been candid about his ongoing battle with mental illness, including his history of depression and anxiety. During the peak of his fame, he faced severe challenges, including agoraphobia, which left him housebound for three years, from 2006 to 2009. He has previously disclosed his time in rehab in 2007 due to substance abuse involving speed, acid, heroin, cocaine, and excessive prescription drugs.
