American tennis legend Pete Sampras has shared the news that his wife, Bridgette Wilson Sampras, who is 50 years old, has been diagnosed with ovarian cancer. The 14-time Grand Slam champion conveyed this information through the ATP and requested “positive thoughts and prayers” from the tennis community as his wife confronts this illness.

According to the statement, Wilson Sampras received her diagnosis in December. In the statement, Pete Sampras, known for his reserved and private nature, expressed the challenges his family has faced in the past year and decided to open up about it. He revealed, “Last December, my wife, Bridgette, was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. Since then, she has undergone significant surgery, endured chemotherapy, and continues to receive targeted maintenance therapy.”

Pete and Bridgette were married in 2000 and have two children together, Christian, 20, and Ryan, 18. Sampras mentioned that witnessing his wife’s struggle through this ordeal is difficult, but he acknowledged the strength of their two sons, who have been unwavering supporters during this trying time. He said, “Seeing our boys step up and be such strong supporters of Bridgette, myself, and each other has been amazing. Watching Bridgette continue to be an incredible mother and wife through it all has been inspiring. I have also learned that it is very hard to reach for support when something is simply too hard to talk about.”

Concluding his statement, Sampras humbly requested good thoughts and prayers for his family as Bridgette embarks on her healing journey.

Bridgette Wilson Sampras, who was crowned Miss Teen USA in 1990, has a background in acting, with appearances in various movies and television shows, including “Saved by the Bell,” “Murder, She Wrote,” “Frasier,” and “CSI: Miami.” She also starred in the film “Billy Madison” and had roles in “Last Action Hero” and “I Know What You Did Last Summer.”

The news of Bridgette’s diagnosis quickly spread, prompting an outpouring of well-wishes from fellow tennis stars and fans. For instance, Andy Murray expressed his support by writing, “All the best to your wife and your family, Pete.”

Pete Sampras considered one of the greatest players in the modern era of tennis, achieved the world No. 1 ranking in 1993 and held that position for an impressive 286 weeks. His illustrious career includes seven Wimbledon titles, five US Open championships, and two Australian Open victories.
