Zac Efron’s transformation on the set of EW’s cover shoot for his upcoming movie “The Iron Claw” left fans astounded by his striking new appearance.
In the upcoming A24 biopic, the 36-year-old actor takes on the role of Fritz Von Erich, also known as Jack Adkisson, a legendary professional wrestler who achieved fame in the 1960s. To embody a member of the renowned Von Erich wrestling family, Efron dedicated himself to a rigorous fitness regimen.
Efron revealed his commitment to preparing for the role, stating, “I started intermittent fasting just after I stopped being vegan. My body wasn’t processing the vegetables in the right way. So, I decided to stop it and try something new. Intermittent fasting has been really helpful with that.”
However, it wasn’t Efron’s chiseled physique that dominated conversations online. When a video clip from the EW cover shoot surfaced on Instagram and X (formerly Twitter), fans were taken aback, with one user inquiring, “What happened to his face?” Some even compared his appearance to Prince Farquhar from Shrek due to his prominent jawline.
Questions and concerns about his facial transformation quickly spread, with comments ranging from “Damn, his face doesn’t even move now” to speculations about the impact of growth hormone on his jaw and lips.
To provide some context, one fan defended Efron and offered an explanation for his altered appearance. They wrote, “Before everyone comments about it, Z said that his jaw shattered in an accident and he had to get it restructured, which is supposedly why it looks different now.”
Despite the controversy surrounding his evolving look, there are still fans who appreciate the actor’s enduring appeal. One fan expressed, “I think he still looks hot.”
