Britney Spears is indulging in a nostalgic trip down memory lane, proudly displaying her status as a certified Swiftie! The 41-year-old singer took to Instagram on Saturday to reminisce about her first encounter with Taylor Swift, dating back two decades.
In a post featuring a side-by-side comparison of herself and the 33-year-old Swift posing together in 2003 and 2008, Spears kicked off her caption with a touch of sentimentality, stating, “This is way back when but kinda cool.” She then recounted a pivotal moment during her Oops!… I Did It Again Tour when a member of her team approached her backstage, introducing her to the then-emerging talent, Taylor Swift. Spears recalled, “He said, ‘I have a girl named Taylor who wants to come in and sing for you.’ I was like, of course!!! He walks in, and she sings a beautiful song with her guitar 🎸.”
Expressing her awe at Swift’s talent, Spears exclaimed, “I was like wow wow, she’s unbelievable!!! We took a picture, and she then became the most iconic pop woman of our generation. Kinda cool she plays stadiums, and I prefer her videos over movies any day.” The author of “The Woman in Me” concluded with a touch of admiration, calling Swift a “stunning !!! Girl crush 💄 💄 💄.”
Both Spears and Swift have enjoyed tremendous success this year. Spears, having recently released her bestselling memoir on Oct. 24, chronicling the highs and lows of her life, has seen remarkable sales, with 1.1 million copies sold in the first week, including pre-orders, print books, ebooks, and audiobooks.
Swift, on the other hand, is currently captivating audiences with the South American leg of her Eras Tour. The tour’s latest stop at Buenos Aires’ Estadio River Plate in Argentina featured a special appearance by Swift’s boyfriend, Travis Kelce. Swift’s momentum continues with the release of the re-recorded version of her 2014 album, “1989 (Taylor’s Version),” marking the biggest album debut of her career.
