Renowned chef Michael Chiarello, formerly a prominent figure on the Food Network, passed away at the age of 61. The Napa County Coroner’s Office determined that an acute allergic reaction triggered anaphylactic shock, ultimately leading to a heart attack, as reported by TMZ.
After being rushed to the hospital, Chiarello was revived but sadly succumbed to hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy—a brain dysfunction resulting from inadequate oxygen and blood flow. The coroner’s office clarified that while cocaine was present in his system, the cause of death was not a drug overdose.

Michael Chiarello’s television career commenced in 2011 on the PBS show Season by Season, followed by two more shows on the Food Network: Michael Chiarello’s Napa and Michael Chiarello’s Napa: Casual Cooking. In 2003, he hosted Easy Entertaining on the Food Network and premiered NapaStyle on the Fine Living Network in 2004.
