The report suggests that Charles was incensed by the couple’s assertions in the docuseries Harry and Meghan, leading him to ridicule his son openly within the confines of the Palace.
“At the palace, there was a collective sense of dismay and brewing headaches. The impact of [the Netflix series] was palpable, taking the wind out of everyone’s sails,” shared a royal aide with Scobie. The source added that Charles initially went from avoiding any discussion about his son to openly criticizing him, dubbing him “that fool.”

“The King found the entire situation genuinely saddening. While angry, he didn’t want people to speak negatively about his son in his presence. There was a momentary pause where he grasped the severity of the situation,” continued the insider. Scobie highlighted that Charles’s sympathy was short-lived as the media attention from the documentary soon overshadowed him in various ways.
In another tense episode recounted in the book, Scobie recalled a clash between Charles and Harry. This disagreement arose when the monarch decided to remove Harry and Meghan from Frogmore Cottage, considering they were no longer residing in the United Kingdom.
Scobie revealed that the Sussexes were taken aback by the news. In a heated phone conversation, Harry reportedly confronted his father, asking, “Don’t you want to see your grandchildren?” Charles responded with silence initially, later assuring his son that the family would always have a place to stay whenever they visited.
