All members of the renowned K-pop supergroup Blackpink have officially extended their contracts with YG Entertainment, as disclosed in the company’s regulatory filing released on Wednesday. The quartet, comprising Jennie, Jisoo, Lisa, and Rosé, will continue to be an integral part of the group, although the duration of their renewed contracts was not explicitly mentioned in the filing.

This news allays fears held by fans throughout the world since Blackpink’s prior contracts expired in August, raising questions about possible solo endeavors and the group’s future as a musical force. In response to these doubts, YG Entertainment said in the filing, “The board has completed a resolution about renewing the contracts with Blackpink’s four members.”

Ever since making their debut in 2016, Blackpink has become one of the most successful girl groups in the world, thanks to their incredible success. In 2022, the group achieved a historic first for K-pop by topping the album charts in both the US and the UK. Furthermore, their 2020 song “How You Like That” broke the record for the most views in a single day on a YouTube video. Notably, in 2019, Coachella and other big US festivals saw Blackpink play for the first time as a female K-pop trio.

YG Entertainment’s shares, which had been falling since mid-September, saw a notable 22% increase after the contract extension announcement, demonstrating the beneficial effect of Blackpink’s ongoing dedication to the label.
