Cardi B has confirmed her single status amid swirling rumors about her relationship with Offset. The 31-year-old rapper opened up on Instagram Live over the weekend, revealing, “I’ve been single for a while now,” as disclosed in a livestream recording shared on X (formerly known as Twitter).
In her candid revelation, she expressed, “I’ve been hesitant… not hesitant, I just haven’t figured out how to share it with the world. But today feels like a sign.” Cardi B expressed her desire to embrace the upcoming year with a “fresh” and “open” mindset, stating, “I’m curious for a new life, for a new beginning. And yeah… I’m excited.”
This update on her relationship status follows the couple’s joint attendance at the TikTok In the Mix music festival in Mesa, Arizona, on Sunday night, where they were notably not photographed together. Representatives for both rappers have not responded to PEOPLE’s request for comment.
During the Instagram Live session, Cardi B also acknowledged that her recent social media activity contained “clues” about her relationship status. Fans had observed last week that she and Offset, whom she privately wed in 2017, had unfollowed each other on Instagram.
“I don’t know if you guys have been picking up on clues from my Lives or Stories when I play certain music or make certain unfollowings,” she shared during the Live.
On December 4, the “Bongos” rapper posted cryptic messages on her Instagram Stories, suggesting potential relationship troubles, including, “You know when you just outgrow relationships.” She added, “I’m tired of protecting people’s feelings… I GOTTA PUT MYSELF FIRST.”
Offset, also 31, responded to the unfollowing news with a Scarface clip on his Instagram Story featuring Al Pacino yelling, “Hey, f— you, man! Who put this thing together? Me! Who do I trust? Me!”
In September, the couple celebrated their fifth wedding anniversary, and Offset showered Cardi B with love by covering their home with extravagant bouquets of pink and red flowers. The couple shares two children, daughter Kulture, 5, and son Wave, 2. The recent revelations mark a significant shift in their public narrative, which had previously been filled with expressions of love and mutual admiration on social media.
