After five years of anticipation, Nicki Minaj’s latest album, Pink Friday 2, has triumphantly claimed the top spot on the Billboard 200 chart. The rapper’s dedicated fan base proved their unwavering support, catapulting the album to No. 1 in its debut tracking week, with an impressive 228,000 equivalent units sold.
Of this total, 92,000 units were attributed to pure sales, while an additional 129,000 units were generated through streaming equivalents. The album’s tracks amassed nearly 170 million plays on platforms like Spotify and Apple Music during its release week, contributing significantly to its chart-topping success.
This achievement marks Minaj’s third No. 1 on the Billboard 200, with Pink Friday 2 joining the ranks of its predecessors, the original Pink Friday (2010) and Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded. The latter also secured the top position two years after the debut album.
Nicki Minaj now boasts a remarkable record of seven projects reaching the top 10 on the Billboard 200. Alongside her three chart-toppers, albums such as The Pinkprint, Queen, and the mixtape Beam Me Up Scotty all reached No. 2, while the greatest hits compilation Queen Radio: Volume 1 reached No. 10 last year.
Prior to the album’s release, Pink Friday 2 was teased with two singles. In the summer of 2022, Minaj’s “Super Freaky Girl” soared to No. 1 on the Hot 100, marking her third chart-topping single and her first solo accomplishment. The second official single, “Last Time I Saw You,” has climbed to No. 23, adding to the album’s overall success.
