George Clooney revealed that despite realizing his ambition of appearing in a comedy similar to “Friends,” Matthew Perry struggled to find happiness because of his struggles with drugs and alcohol. Speaking with Deadline, Clooney recalled how Perry’s dream of appearing in a comedy was realized when he was cast as Chandler Bing in “Friends” in 1994. Perry’s drug problems nonetheless persisted and continued to affect his health.

Clooney claimed that Perry stated his wish to be on a regular comedy because he thought it would make him the happiest guy alive. Perry’s personal struggles prevented him from experiencing joy, contentment, or serenity even after he landed a part in one of the greatest comedies.

Even though he worked closely with Perry on “ER” and “Friends,” Clooney admitted he didn’t realize how much of a struggle Perry was going through on a daily basis. Clooney emphasized that one must discover fulfillment inside oneself and one’s life; celebrity, fortune, and success do not immediately translate into happiness.

Clooney recalled his early interactions with Perry, describing the actor as a gifted and humorous person and highlighting their common experience of playing paddle tennis together when Perry was barely 16 years old.

At the time of his death, Matthew Perry, 54, had taken a fatal mix of buprenorphine and ketamine, which are drugs used in the treatment of opiate addiction. Perry was a regular recipient of ketamine infusions, and the examiner speculated that the lethal dosage may have been used recreationally.

Perry struggled with drugs and alcohol from an early age, and he had previously tried to kick the habit for nine million dollars. Perry struggled with alcoholism and used up to 55 Vicodin tablets a day, among other health issues, despite his best attempts.

Perry’s close friend Jennifer Aniston said that he had been headed toward health and happiness following his passing. Aniston refuted reports of a relapse, saying Perry was actually happy, quitting smoking, and getting in shape. She highlighted his commitment to enhancing his health and the effort he had made to ensure his well-being prior to his unexpected demise.
