Tori Spelling is navigating the challenges of the holiday season as a single mom following her separation from her estranged husband, Dean McDermott. The “Beverly Hills, 90210” star opened up about the struggles of last-minute Christmas shopping for her five children in a candid Instagram Story shared on Friday.
As of December 22, Spelling admitted to purchasing her first Christmas gift and was faced with the task of tackling five Christmas lists within the remaining three days. She revealed missing the Amazon Prime cutoff for online shopping forcing her to opt for in-person shopping.
The 50-year-old actress shares five children—Liam (16), Stella (15), Hattie (11), Finn (10), and Beau (6)—with McDermott, 57. McDermott, known for his role in “Due South,” announced their divorce in June after 17 years of marriage. In a since-deleted Instagram post, he expressed great sadness and a heavy heart, emphasizing his commitment to co-parenting with Spelling.
McDermott later disclosed that the breakup announcement was a desperate response to a tumultuous night marked by a “drunk and angry” fight, which led to his suicide attempt. Admitting to taking “six or seven” sleeping pills in an attempt to end his life, McDermott described reaching a breaking point, having “burned everything down yet again.”
Following the incident, he entered rehab and is now sober. However, he hasn’t seen Spelling or their children since that difficult night. Concurrently, Spelling and her kids were compelled to move out of their rental home due to a mold issue. This led to a challenging period where they spent a week in a $100-a-night motel before eventually settling in an RV park.
Recently, Spelling has been actively searching for a new home, photographed touring properties in Los Angeles in October. Despite the challenges, she remains focused on providing stability for her children during the holiday season and beyond.
