In the twelve months since narrowly escaping a life-threatening accident on New Year’s Day, Jeremy Renner, renowned for his role in the Marvel universe, has demonstrated his resilience and heroic spirit beyond the silver screen.
On that fateful day in 2023, near his Nevada residence, the “Avengers” actor faced peril when attempting to prevent his snow-removal tractor from sliding into his adult nephew. The incident resulted in severe injuries, including fractures in eight ribs (broken in 14 places), an eye socket, a knee, a collapsed lung, and a pierced liver from a rib bone.
Renner’s survival hinged on the narrowest of margins as his doctor revealed that the snowplow came perilously close to striking a vital organ or major nerve. Since that harrowing episode, Renner has embraced his second chance at life with vigor.
Recent announcements have highlighted the multifaceted artist’s endeavors, including the confirmation of a new album. Shared on Instagram, the album, titled “Wait,” is described by Renner as a “new musical diary” chronicling life, death, recovery, and the lessons learned along the way.
Initially disclosed in October, Renner expressed the album’s creation as a painful yet deeply healing and cathartic process. The album is scheduled for release on January 1, coinciding with the one-year anniversary of his near-fatal accident.
Renner’s journey to recovery has been transparently shared with his millions of followers on social media. In November, he marked ten months of recovery with a video showcasing significant progress in his physical abilities. The actor, once relearning to walk, now demonstrated agility by hopping down a hill and running back up.
Detailing the extensive therapeutic measures undertaken since January 14, Renner acknowledged various treatments, including physical therapy, peptide injections, IV drips, stem cell and exosome therapies, red light/IR therapy, hyperbaric chamber sessions, cold plunges, and more. He credited his greatest therapy to the strength of his mind and the determination to recover and excel.
Throughout his recovery, Renner continued his professional engagements. Alongside promoting Sweet Grass Vodka, he showcased the Disney+ series “Rennervations,” filmed before the accident. Additionally, his “Mayor of Kingstown” co-star Emma Laird hinted at his return to work on the series, sharing a photo on Instagram.
Renner’s packed schedule extends to New Year’s Eve, where he is set to join CNN’s “New Year’s Eve Live with Anderson Cooper and Andy Cohen” in New York City. With a slew of projects and remarkable progress over the past year, Jeremy Renner is poised to welcome New Year’s Day 2024 with gratitude for his incredible journey.
