Storm Reid emerged victorious at the Emmy Awards, securing the title of Best Guest Actress in a Drama Series for her stellar performance in HBO’s “The Last of Us.” The 20-year-old shared the screen with acclaimed actors Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey, portraying the character Riley Abel.
Reflecting on her unexpected journey, Reid expressed, “I didn’t fully grasp the magnitude of what I was stepping into when I took on the role of Riley in ‘The Last of Us.’ I sensed it would be something special, but the depth of its impact exceeded my expectations,” she shared with the media backstage at the Creative Arts Emmy Awards on a Saturday night.

Gratitude overflowed from Reid as she acknowledged the show for reigniting her passion for storytelling. She explained, “I am immensely thankful to the show for allowing me to rediscover my love for storytelling. While I never fell out of love with it, my role in ‘The Last of Us’ has profoundly reinforced my commitment to narrating meaningful stories and being a representation for young women, especially young Black women, and young, queer Black women. I extend my gratitude to Bella, Craig Mazin, and the entire team for bringing this exceptional show to life. It has been a joy to be a part of, and I genuinely believe I would be a devoted fan even if I weren’t involved in the project.”
“The Last of Us” left an indelible mark on the first night of the award ceremony, clinching a total of 8 golden statuettes—the most earned by any show that night. In addition to Storm Reid’s victory in the Guest Actress in a Drama Series category, Nick Offerman secured the Guest Actor in a Drama Series award. The show further triumphed with Emmys for Outstanding Prosthetic Makeup, Visual Effects, Main Title Design, Sound Editing, Sound Mixing, and Picture Editing.
