Jennifer Lawrence brought her signature humor to the 2024 Golden Globe Awards. As her name was called among the six nominees for Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy, the star of “No Hard Feelings” playfully mouthed to a camera, “If I don’t win, I’m leaving.”

Despite Emma Stone being announced as the winner moments later, Lawrence, 33, didn’t seem disheartened. Instead, she threw her hands in the air and jokingly exclaimed, “Mother!” while joining the chorus of cheers for Stone, 35, who won the Golden Globe for her role in “Poor Things.”

Other nominees for the award included Fantasia Barrino for “The Color Purple,” Natalie Portman for “May December,” Alma Pöysti for “Fallen Leaves,” and Margot Robbie for “Barbie.”

Stone and Lawrence, longtime friends, credit their enduring friendship to Woody Harrelson. Harrelson worked with Stone in 2009’s “Zombieland” and later collaborated with Lawrence on the “Hunger Games” movies in the 2010s.

In a 2016 Vanity Fair cover story, Lawrence revealed, “[Stone] texted me that she got my number from Woody. I replied, ‘F— off!’ And we’ve been really good friends ever since.”

In addition to Stone’s win for “Poor Things,” she received another nomination for her performance in the Showtime television series “The Curse.” These nominations marked Stone’s seventh and eighth acting nods at the Golden Globes. She previously won in 2018 for “La La Land,” the same year she clinched the Best Actress title at the Academy Awards.

Meanwhile, Lawrence boasts three Golden Globe statuettes for her roles in “Silver Linings Playbook,” “American Hustle,” and “Joy.” This year’s ceremony marked her sixth career nomination at the Golden Globes.
