Selena Gomez revealed her decision to take a vacation from social media on Tuesday via an Instagram Story. In an Instagram video, the 31-year-old singer and actress showed off her two kids having fun as she was with her boyfriend, record producer Benny Blanco, stating that she was “focusing on what really matters.”
The former cast member of Wizards of Waverly Place has already stepped back from social media. Gomez announced in October that she would be withdrawing from the platforms as a result of the upsetting content she saw, saying, “My heart breaks to see all the horror, hate, violence, and terror that’s going on in the world.” She also promoted ending violence and stressed her concern for the welfare of all people, especially children.

Gomez acknowledged the limitations of social media in having a big influence in her latest declaration and apologized if her words were not enough for everyone. She underlined how uncomfortable she is with innocent people suffering and how she wishes there would be more than just social media posts about it.
Shortly after Gomez and Blanco experienced a romantic moment at the 2024 Golden Globes, when they were spotted kissing, the decision to withdraw from social media was made. A picture of Gomez wearing a black jacket and a red and black Giorgio Armani dress was taken, and she captioned it with the words “I won,” showing her beautiful hug with Blanco. Gomez is reportedly “super happy and present” in her new relationship, according to a source. It’s unclear whether this is because of her connection with Blanco or her contentment in her personal and professional life.
Gomez and Blanco officially confirmed their relationship in December 2023.
