Isabel Marant, known for her aversion to conventional fashion norms, collaborated with artistic director Kim Bekker to conceptualize the fall 2024 collection, opting for an approach driven by gut instinct.
Describing the collection as “preppy grunge” during a showroom preview, Marant expressed the intention to disrupt norms, challenge codes, and eliminate barriers, creating a timeless wardrobe chosen in a natural and spontaneous manner.
Marant’s signature Parisian nonchalance, characterized by a flawless and seemingly uncontrived style, has set her apart for three decades, inspiring many but never quite duplicated. The collection features a fusion of elements, incorporating leopard belts, faux tiger stripes, layette pink, lavender, yellow, and smoky red hues.
These elements are layered with cable-knit sweaters and jacquards or subtly altered with the addition of a Dad shirt. Noteworthy pieces include a bronze puffer complementing one of the upcoming season’s key colors and a khaki jacket with a contrasting collar, exuding strength.
The essence of the collection lies in “little accidents.” Marant explained, “It’s all about wearing things in a spontaneous, unexpected way that gives the guy a special character.” While individually dissected, the components of these looks may seem basic. However, when combined, they create a Marant man with an abundance of attitude and character.
