Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley raised concerns about Donald Trump’s mental fitness during a rally in Keene, New Hampshire, just days before the crucial GOP primary election in the state. Haley’s comments were prompted by an incident at a Friday rally in Concord, where Trump appeared to confuse her with former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. Trump inaccurately asserted that Haley was in charge of Capitol security during the January 6, 2021, riot.
Addressing the incident, Haley expressed her worry, stating, “They’re saying he got confused, that he was talking about something else, he’s talking about Nancy Pelosi. He mentioned me multiple times in that scenario. The concern I have is — I’m not saying anything derogatory — but when you’re dealing with the pressures of the presidency, we can’t have someone else that we question whether they’re mentally fit to do this. We can’t.”

Despite the fact that neither Haley nor Pelosi had authority over Capitol security, Trump accused Haley of rejecting 10,000 soldiers to protect the Capitol. During a rally, he remarked, “By the way, they never reported the crowd on January 6. You know, Nikki Haley, Nikki Haley, Nikki Haley… did you know they destroyed all of the information, all of the evidence, everything, deleted and destroyed all of it? All of it, because of lots of things, like Nikki Haley being in charge of security, we offered her 10,000 people, soldiers, national guards, whatever they wanted. They turned it down.”
Haley, who advocates for term limits and mental competency tests for politicians over 75, has criticized both Trump and President Joe Biden’s mental fitness. She emphasized her concerns in Keene, stating, “Congress is now the most privileged nursing home in the country,” and reaffirming her stance that Americans shouldn’t “leave our kids two presidential candidates who are in their 80s.”
