CM Punk’s highly anticipated return to WWE at Survivor Series 2023 marked one of the most unforgettable moments of the year. Given the magnitude of this comeback, wrestling enthusiasts are now curious about the possibility of including CM Punk in the upcoming WWE 2K24.
As of now, there is no official confirmation regarding CM Punk’s presence in WWE 2K24. The recently released official trailer for the game, which showcased cover stars Rhea Ripley, Bianca Belair, and Cody Rhodes discussing “finishing their stories,” did not feature the Straight Edge Superstar. Notably absent were iconic figures such as Hulk Hogan, “Stone Cold” Steve Austin, and The Undertaker.
Despite his absence from the trailer, there is still room for optimism. The content for the trailer was filmed in the summer, as disclosed by Ripley and Rhodes in a behind-the-scenes video from WWE. Since CM Punk made his return at Survivor Series: War Games in November, he couldn’t have been part of the shoot.
The timing of an appearance later in the year does not necessarily preclude inclusion in the game. An example is Bray Wyatt, who returned to the organization in October 2022 and later appeared as DLC in WWE 2K23, released as part of the “Revel with Wyatt” pack in July 2023.
Considering CM Punk’s status as one of wrestling’s last true superstars, his return to the company has garnered significant attention, with 8.4 million views on YouTube and a notable impact on merch sales.
The absence of CM Punk in a WWE 2K game seems almost inconceivable at this point, and the developers are likely aware of the fan anticipation. It is improbable that they would make fans wait over a year to play as him once again.
Unfortunately, the confirmation remains pending, and fans will have to wait for official news from 2K. WWE 2K24 is currently scheduled for release on March 8, just a few weeks before Wrestlemania.
