Home Depot has responded to Tyrese’s $1 million racial discrimination lawsuit with a filing of their own, as reported by The Shade Room. Tyrese initiated the lawsuit in August 2023 concerning an incident from February of the same year.
Home Depot’s Response
According to RadarOnline, Home Depot claims that Tyrese left the store without speaking to any employees and allowed his associates to use his credit card without prior interaction. The company further asserts that the security cameras did not capture any such interaction.
Furthermore, Home Depot accuses Tyrese of sharing footage of the incident despite being denied permission by the involved employee. The company alleges that this footage was then circulated by media outlets. Home Depot seeks a protective order to prevent the dissemination of private communications that were not meant for public viewing.

Home Depot’s attorneys have stated that the company will provide CCTV footage once the protective order is in place. Additionally, Home Depot has accused Tyrese of exaggerating the events of the incident.
Incident at the Store
Reportedly, Tyrese visited a Home Depot store with two associates on February 11, 2023. He claimed that the presence of fans became overwhelming, prompting him to leave the store and entrust his associates with his credit card. Tyrese alleged that a store employee refused to process his associates’ transactions without his photo ID. He later shared footage of a conversation with the employee on Instagram.
Details of Tyrese’s Lawsuit
Tyrese is reportedly seeking $1 million in damages from Home Depot and requesting coverage of attorney fees. He also seeks a judgment declaring that Home Depot violated the Unruh Civil Rights Act, which protects individuals from discrimination in California businesses.
Since filing the lawsuit, Tyrese has accused Home Depot of failing to provide requested documents or make its employees available for witness depositions.
Home Depot’s attorneys state that they are in the process of scheduling employee witness depositions and will comply with Tyrese’s document requests once a protective order is secured.
