Home Alone is a Christmas comedy movie that has managed to remain evergreen. It made the audience laugh for decades and made Macaulay Culkin into a star soon after its release. Being released in 1990, the movie revolved around an 8-year-old kid, Kevin, who is accidentally left back at home while his family leaves for their vacation. Thinking the house is empty, two burglars named Harry and Merv try to take advantage of this to rob the place. Thus, Kevin is left alone to defend his home on Christmas Eve. Now, fast forward to 2018, it was revealed by Ryan Reynolds that he would be bankrolling and even joining the crew in making a parody movie on Home Alone titled “Stoned Alone.”
This was the last of the news revealed officially for a while when people started questioning its very existence. It was even looked at as one of the pranks played by Ryan Reynolds to his audience. On the revelation of Stoned Alone, Home Alone director John Hughes proclaimed Ryan Reynolds’ Holiday movie to be an insult to Cinema. The chances of the movie coming out started becoming bleaker day by day. Media sites were claiming that the movie was in the works while others refuted it. Things took a turn when Stoned Alone got its own IMDb page and finally got some form of legitimacy.

According to the IMDb page, Stoned Alone is a movie to be directed by “Augustine Frizzell” who directed “Never Goin’ Back,” which premiered at Sundance and will be released by A24, and she’s directing Euphoria for HBO. The screenplay is to be written by Kevin Burrows and Matt Mider on a suggestion from FOX Executive Matt Reilley. The movie is even said to be co-produced by FOX. The premise of the story revolves around an adult in his twenties who misses his flight to his holiday ski trip. He is a weed grower, thus makes the best of the situation by getting high. As the paranoia sets in from getting high, he believes that he is in “Home Alone” form of a situation as he heard someone break into his house. It turns out; thieves have actually broken in. Fueled by his paranoia and fully stoned, he tries to protect his fort and chase away the thieves.
After this, no information about the movie surfaced for a while. When on 24th December, the movie’s name made headlines on multiple websites. This happened because of an alleged poster of the movie which surfaced on Twitter. The caption even mentioned the users’ delight to watch the movie the next day when it comes out. The poster had Macaulay shown smoking marijuana and is dressed in pajamas.

The poster’s title read “Stoned Alone” and had even tagged Netflix, indicating that it will be released on the streaming platform. Unfortunately, this was just one of the many fan arts that were made over time from when news revolving around the movie came out. Stemming from this, there are also many fan-made trailers for the movie, which are available on the internet. As of now, there is no release date or confirmation about the project, and it doesn’t seem like it will come anytime soon.
