Warner Brothers have now confirmed that the Adventure and Sci-fi drama movie Dune will not be releasing on December 18th. Instead, this movie will be a 2021 release. The film was 2020’s much-awaited movie, and fans were sad to see that they will have to wait longer to see the film.
What do we know about Dune so far?
As we have said, Dune is 2020’s much-awaited movie along with many other films. There is a reason for this movie to have a fanbase before its release. The movie directed by Villeneuve has a cast including Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, who is the recent Primetime Emmy winner for “Euphoria.” Along with that, Rebecca Ferguson, Jason Momoa, Javier Bardem, Josh Brolin, and Oscar Isaac are also in the cast. This excellent star cast was along with this movie’s sci-fi genre, made the movie worth waiting.
Why this much delay?
The biggest reason among all is the break out of the pandemic. It has affected all of our much-awaited projects, forcing both the studios and distributors to either shift the release date or halt production. Along with all of this, Warner Bros had huge titles such as Wonder Woman 1984 and The much-awaited Batman to release. They don’t want to collide these huge titles’ release date with each other, affecting the movie’s overall revenue. After all, this includes business.
With the WW84 released recently, the studio is gearing up for releasing “The Batman,” starring Robert Pattinson. even though the release date is yet to be announced, the movie is expected to be released around mid-2021. The studio is planning to release Dune around 2021, to be specific, October 1st. Yes, this is a huge timeline to wait for a movie whose release was almost near, but we should understand that it all happened because of a reason.

Where to watch Dune?
Now that we know when this film is releasing, we may also have one more doubt to clear? Where to watch this movie? As of now, we don’t have any confirmations regarding where the film will be released. Rumors suggest that Warner Brothers is planning for both OTT and theatrical release at the same time. This is similar to what had happened with Wonder Woman in 1984. This movie was released on both the OTT platform and Theaters.
But the chances of the movie releasing on both platforms may not be possible, as the company, which funded almost 75% of the film, stated that they are not going to agree with this. The movie was designed for watching first on the Big screens. The small screen watching can only be considered for the second time viewing. Many prominent directors, including Christopher Nolan, agree with the company’s opinion. As the company is getting support for their statement, Warner Brothers may skip the Hybrid release and stick to the theatrical release it deserves. We would only know about this when time passes.
Are you excited to watch this movie? will you be willing to watch a film that deserves to be watched and experience that entire movie on the big screen, in the OTT small screens of platforms? Do let us know.
